New ULTRA battery launched

We're excited to introduce our newest product to compliment our range of bike light accessories.

The Magiclight ULTRA battery packs some mean power, providing more than double the capacity of the Std battery.
It comes in a convenient bottle form factor which you simply slide into your bottle cage.
It tips the scales at a mere 400g so you won't have to pay a huge weight penalty for riding all night long.

This battery is the ideal companion for 24 hour endurance races like the Trans Baviaans & Desert Dash.

Magiclight UK launched

Our UK operations have begun operating and the initial response has been overwhelming.
If you're located in the UK or Europe, then visit our UK site -

We offer the same great products, with the same legendary customer service and support.
The major benefit being that shipping to these regions is more cost effective and faster than shipping from South Africa.

Great feedback on the Podio - Luminadio

Team bizhub Ladies rider & SA Marathon champ, Ischen Stopforth had this to say about the Luminadio:

What I love most about this little light is the fact that it is completely wireless, no battery pack to mount on your bike, no cords or connections. Just a little torch which one can easily carry in your back pocket if you do not wish to keep it mounted all the time. The light is bright enough even on low beam, but with the long battery life of 4 hours on full beam, this will hardly ever be needed!

The Podio Luminadio has the clever little double function of an MP3 bike audio system. In general, I do not train with an iPod or music due to the fact that I find it dangerous: one cannot hear cars or oncoming traffic and cannot converse with fellow riders, so besides the fact that I think it is slightly dangerous it is also a bit anti-social. Enter the Podio with its’ own speaker system! But I find it great that there is the option to use earphones rather than sharing my music with everyone else in the group, as we might not all have the same taste or moods. Being able to recharge the battery by connecting it to the USB port of a computer is a new concept to me, but a good one since I can now download my favourite music to the system for my next training ride.

We've just received our latest shipment of MJ808 lights - there's some great new enhancements to this already fantastic light...
  • Like the all new Generation 3 battery with rubber sheath for shock and water protection
  • The battery now also features thicker cabling for better performance and durability
  • The battery pouch has been revamped and includes dual hook & loop straps as well as padding for extra protection.
  • Thermal protection to protect the light from overheating
  • Battery "Fuel gauge" - the illuminated switch at the rear of the light changes colour from Green -> Blue -> Orange -> Red as the battery level drops.

Trans Baviaans - a great success

The 2010 Trans Baviaans has come and gone. Congratulations to all those who finished this grueling race.
It was great to see all the Magiclights out there lighting up the night, with many riders getting great results.

We'd like to make special mention of the following teams who were sponsored / assisted by Magiclight:

  • Ride4Retina who rode the race on tandems with partially-sighted riders at the back - lights sponsored by Magiclight
  • Team Bizhub Ladies for winning the ladies category - Lise Olivier rode with a Magiclight MJ808
  • Racing for Leopards who unfortunately had to retire due to a mechanical failure early on in the race.
For full race results see the Trans Baviaans website

Thanks to Wikus and the Ecobound team for putting on such a well organised event.
